Here's Mazzy Star second album (1993) - So Tonight That I Might See.
This is what I call a real dream pop band. This album includes what it generaly considered their "greatest hit" - the first track, Fade Into You. The song is also a very good recomandation for those of you who haven't met Mazzy Star yet and might like to know how it sounds. It sounds great, with their echoed chords, the whispered, soft voice and the fine lyrics. Just listen to them once, and then you'll see how their obsesive rythms will get under your skin, and you'll want more. And by the way, don't neglect the "dream" part. I trully recomand a relaxed, darkened atmosphere when listening to this, so that you can get all out of it.
I just received it from Amazon, and I ripped it before I even played it. Curiously though, there is one track with 99,9% quality - the rest being 100%. There seems to be this problem that keeps appearing on EAC when I rip CDs, because it's not the first time it happens with a brand new CD and it always occurs in the very last seconds of a track.
Amazon review
People tend to confuse the band Mazzy Star with it's singer Hope Sandoval. Truth be told, they've been right all along. Sandoval's languid, weeping willow voice is Mazzy Star; the name is a mere formality. With nods to Nico and the Velvet Underground, So Tonight that I Might See is vintage Mazzy. Remarkably, the recording produced a strikingly undanceable single, "Fade into You," that ascended to respectable rotation on college and AAA radio. The rest of the album sticks close to the single's plaintive, retro balladry. Though Sandoval rarely raises her voice above a sultry whisper, it's bright enough to hold your attention all night. --Nick Heil
