This album was written to accompany an hour-long session of Hatha yoga. The composer, longtime yoga expert Chinmaya Dunster, divided the program into seven songs to reflect the body's seven chakras, or energy points. He alternates between slow and mystical compositions and more uptempo, energy-driven pieces that match the varying paces of the Hatha workout. The rich, textured sounds of this music seem to acknowledge an entire host of international traditions, but ultimately there is a distinctly Indian flavor, due to the generous use of the sarod, an Indian stringed instrument.
Personnel includes: Chinmaya Dunster (guitar, sarod, keyboards, programming); Bodhanand (vocals); Prasad Mackenzie (guitar); Gerhard Frankhaus (lute); Atul Keskar (sitar); Don Lax (violin); Shastro (flute); Bikram Singh (bamboo flute); Zahir (accordion); Kalyan Mitto, Prem Sundari (bass); Manish Vyas, Atmo Sangeet (tabla). ~cduniverse.com

Product Description
Dunster's plaintive violin, guitar, and flute bring to life music that ranges from relaxing to invigorating as successive tracks move through the chakras. Excellent not only for yoga practice, this is music anyone can enjoy.
Music to the ears and the soul, April 24, 2003 By Ashwini Aragam (Worcester, PA)
Wow! Classical Indian Music at its best. The music is soothing and lays a great background to practice Yoga or to just unwind. Divine in every way, I have never got bored of this CD as I use it again and again in my Yoga sessions.
'Natrani' was the best track for me as it reminds me most of Indian folk-fare whilst the OM Chants mix reverberating both in my soul and mind; 'On Sacred Ground' sets a slow and moving background for getting deeper into the practice. 'Purnima Namaskar' is melodious, gentle and soothing to the soul as you prepare to go into and come out of meditation. The laugh is a nice tinge welcoming you back to the present moment.
Great stuff!
On Sacred Ground, February 14, 2002 By Peter Torbay (Richmond, BC)
No better way to pass a stressful day in the office than On Sacred Ground, (except maybe Meeting by the River by Ry Cooder, or the Darkest Midnight, by Noirin Riain). On Sacred Ground soars.
Sensuous & Pleasurable, February 7, 2002 By Baazumi (New York City, NY)
Don't let the word "Yoga" in the title of this wonderful album mislead you. The music is sensuous, pleasurable, and melodic, with rich undertones. A lovely, really lovely album that many women should enjoy.
