The tenor saxophonist Wardell Gray is one of many young musicians, who were affected by the melodic style of Lester Young. Under the influence of Charlie Parker, Gray‘s style evolved more and more into bebop. Dexter Gordon participated considerably in the development of bebop. Already in the 1940s his hard, voluminous sound made him one of the most demanded tenors. The famoust sax-battle of the entire history of jazz!
