12 juin 1940

La vie suit son cours à Villeneuve, petite sous-préfecture du Jura encore inconsciente de la défaite qui s’annonce. Pendant que le médecin, Daniel Larcher, se rend à un accouchement, Raymond Schwartz tombe amoureux de Marie, une de ses employées, et Lucienne, l’institutrice, part en promenade avec sa classe…
Soudain, un avion allemand tire sur les enfants : l’occupation vient de commencer.
