These were published during the v2 era. But that doesn't mean the are co-temporal (did I make that word up? I'm sure they say it in the 23rd century though..Heard it form some guy with pointy ears, maybe.
Having read none of these, I can't help much with the contents, but if you like Star Trek, do you really need that? If you hate Star Trek you probably are not reading this. If you are, have you tried the comics.? It's not going to be the same as the series or movies.
