In the spring of 2008 Wukimon released their debut EP `Agni´. Since then they have been compared to such diverse bands and artists as: Björk, Massive Attack, The Knife, Psapp, Tunng and Steve Reich. The music of Wukimon is indeed difficult to categorize. Just when you think you´ve got them pinned down as `synthpop´ a folksy acoustic guitar comes sneaking into the soundscape and suddenly you start thinking: "Hey, perhaps this is better labelled `folktronica´". Then to make matters worse the next track turns out to be an experimental, instrumental flutepiece reminiscent of modern classical minimalist music. But as soon as I give up my attempts to categorize the music and just immerse myself in it, I am immediately struck by its sheer beauty. Although each track sounds very different from the one preceding it, all the tracks share one thing in common; emotion. Wukimon takes me on an emotional journey. The sense of yearning portrayed in the first half of the opening track `Holy´ dissolves into a state of relaxed bliss that continues through the following track `Flute of Krishna´. The carefree joy of `High´ culminates in the screaming ecstasy of `The Fire´. The last two songs, `When the River Calls You´ and the instrumental `The Bells´, are charged with mystery and melancholia.
