Torrent description
Joy Ride folgt den Konventionen des Roadmovie-Thrillers mit genügend Esprit, um Altbekanntes neu erscheinen zu lassen. Regisseur John Dahl (Red Rock West, The Last Seduction), ein anerkannter Meister dunkler "Neo-Noir"-Spannung, etabliert von Anfang an eine Stimmung, die sich zwischen Humor und Horror bewegt. Lewis (Paul Walker) und sein Bruder Fuller (Steve Zahn), das schwarze Schaf der Familie, fahren von Salt Lake City nach Boulder, Colorado, um Lewis Freundin Venna (Leelee Sobieski) aufzugabeln. Auf dem Weg machen sie sich mit ihrem CB-Funkgerät einen Spaß und treffen dabei auf den Falschen. Ein Trucker verfolgt sie mit gnadenloser, irrwitziger Aggressivität. Sofort fällt einem da Steven Spielbergs Duell ein. Der Vergleich ist jedoch unzulässig, würdigt er doch nicht ausreichend John Dahls einzigartiges Talent, B-Movie Geschichten mit seinem ganz eigenen Stil anzureichern. Während Zahn in seiner ersten wichtigen Hauptrolle besondere Erwähnung verdient, ist Joy Ride durch die Bank ein erstklassiger Film.
