Originally using the RAIDER moniker and then evolving into XL, the brotherly duo of Chris and Mike Jones released a limited edition CD entitled 'Rock All Over You' under the latter name before adopting the new tag of FREEFALL. With the brand new handle the duo issued a new, self financed affair, 'Rebel Hard', in 1997. The record received a lot of attention from the Hard Rock fanzines.
As XL, the brothers had 500 copies of 'Rock All Over You' pressed in 1992. The attention was to use it as a promotional tool in order to be picked up by a major label. Unfortunately, most companies felt the record was a bit too simular to DEF LEPPARD for comfort.

Having gained interest from the Japanese market, a further name change ensued to FREEFALL (via a brief spell as THE JONES BOYS) and the release of 'Rebel Hard' album through Pony Canyon. Vocalist Nick Workman was recruited to the ranks in 1997 and made his debut on a demo track contributed to a 'Hard Roxx' fanzine sampler CD in early 1998.
